Meet Mia Violet! She was the 1st place winner of the Krosmaster National Championships 2014. She is heading off to the Krosmaster World Championships in France (3/21-3/22) so we thought we would check in with her and help aspiring Masters of the Krosmoz get to know her better! How long have you been playing? > I have only been playing since late August of 2014, when my friend Kevin K. taught me how to play before heading up to PAX Seattle. What other kinds of games do you play? > Currently, the Pokemon TCG is a huge part of my life, and is where most of my free time is devoted. I ranked 11th in the world at the 2014 World Championships, and have recently just secured my invite to play in the 2015 World Championships as well. I’m formerly a member of a World Top 10 WoW raiding guild, multi-season WoW Gladiator, and am trying to get some headway into the Pokemon Video Game as well as Weiss Schwartz. What is your favorite team of characters to play and why? > My favorite team combo is Merk and Lou, as they are just super cute together, and I love the dynamics that go with that. Then the other slots can be a combination of heroes that can push/pull, or cause ranged ailments to the enemy as back-up support. What would you like to say about your general strategies? Do you have a certain play style or strategy that you have developed to Master the Krozmos? > I don’t think I have a particular strategy, as it depends on what team I’m facing and who I’m against. I enjoy going aggressive if possible, but sometimes that isn’t an option.Care to share your thoughts on strategy for the Worlds? There have been several teams posted from the winners in other countries- do their team selections inform your choice in Krosmasters at all? > I haven’t done much testing for this event as I’d like to have done, due to Pokemon taking up a huge chunk of my time with those recent Regional championships. I plan to review some of the top teams and check out if there’s any fun new mechanics to play with before making my call for the event. What did it feel like to compete at Nationals? > It was very fun! I enjoyed meeting new people :)What are you looking forward to at Worlds? Are you nervous? Tell us about your plans for your trip! > This will be the first time I’m ever going to Europe, so I’m leaving a week before the tournament happens so that I can see France in its beauty. Then I’m going to prepare a bit with my friend Kevin and get ready for the main event. I’m pretty nervous, as anyone would be, especially since I don’t have anywhere near as much experience as the other top players going into this event! What is your favorite class? > If by class, you’re meaning affiliation, then I think Foggernauts are the coolest, since I really dig their style and theme. Steamy Wonder is adorable.Do you prefer to collect as many coins, and rewards as possible, or get right to the action?> I like to collect coins from the middle as soon as possible, and then grab some useful rewards when they become availableThank you Mia for giving us a little peek in to your world! We wish you luck both at the Krosmaster and Pokemon Championships! You may not be the most experienced Master of the Krosmoz, but you are clearly a top level gamer and we have every faith in your ability to win! We’ll be cheering for you!
